Austin Cummings is a PhD student in astroparticle physics at Gran Sasso Science Institute in L'Aquila, Italy. He has previously worked with the EUSO collaboration, where he designed and helped carry out the  ground field tests for a prototype cosmic ray detector intended for a long duration, high altitude balloon flight. Currently, his research interests are in high energy neutrino detection. Specifically, he is interested in the POEMMA experiment which seeks to, from space, observe the cherenkov light from neutrino induced upwards going air showers to detect, for the first time, cosmogenic neutrinos.
