CIANI Giovanni Francesco

Giovanni Francesco Ciani is a PhD student in Nuclear Astrophysics at the Astroparticle Physics Unit at Gran Sasso Science Institute, L’Aquila.

He hold both the Bachelor and the Master Thesis in Physics from the University of Bari (Italy).

In particular, the Master Thesis project was devoted to the characterization of Liquid Scintillators for fast neutron detectors and n-γ Pulse Shape Discrimination techniques.

He received a six months fellowship for master students at LNGS and he started to collaborate with the LUNA (Laboratory for Underground Nuclear Astrophysics) experiment.
His current work is related with the direct measurement of the nuclear reaction 13C(α,n)16O, the main neutron source in the low mass Asymptotic Giant Branch stars at the LUNA experiment.
