Robert J. Stimson will present an overview of the challenges, past and present, faced by regional science, discussing how regional science has dealt with past critiques of its elevance, the contemporary big issues being addresses by regional scientists, and propose future directions for regional science research. Stimson is an analytical human geographer and regional scientist.
He has been conducting spatial research in a number of universities in Australia for 49 years. Director of the Australian Urban research Infrastructure Network (AURIN), Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, and Adjunct Professor, Department of Resource Management and Geog- raphy, University of Melbourne.
